Why Need Air Purifier Reviews ?
Since air purifier is expensive, it's prudent to compare brands and price before you purchasing one. The best air purifier for you is the one which fits your needs, lifestyle and budget perfectly. However, it is not enough to read specification of each type of air purifier. Air purifier has jargons and technical aspects which you need to understand to be able to make decision wisely. By reading air purifier reviews, you will be able to identify which home air purifier fit your needs, budget and lifestyle and buy confidently.
Why Our Air Purifier Review is Special ?
First, unlike the standard listing in the air purifier vendors' websites, our reviews do not only contain specification of each air purifier brand. It also explains to you what each specification means. For instance, when the air purifier manufacturer's or vendor's websites mention that the noise of a particular air purifier is 45 dbA (or decibel) at the lowest setting, we explain to you what that sound is like. Or if you find that the vendor's website mentions about CADR ratings of 150 for a particular air purifier, you can be sure that we explain to you what that means.
Secondly in our reviews, we also mention the potential drawbacks of each feature of the air purifier. Often, vendor websites just offer specification along with the standard listing or sales copy for a particular air purifier. For instance, we often read a sales copy which says like this: this air purifier is proven to clean air from dust, pollen and mold. However, without knowing exactly how that particular air purifier works and the nature of the filter used, we can be lured into believing that the air purifier really does curb all sizes of dust, pollen and mold and our indoor air will be free from those particles.
Just so you know, dust, pollen and mold have various sizes. The manufacturer of a not-so-good air purifier which can only retain larger airborne particles can claim that its air purifier gets rid of the dust, pollen and mold in the sales copy, because after all, it does retain a minority of dust, pollen and mold. However, no one can deny that the sales copy is misleading because in truth, that particular air cleaner is only good to retain 5% of the airborne particles, while releasing the rest of smaller sized dust, pollen, mold and the plethora of bacteria, viruses, various gases, and so forth, back into our indoor area. So you see, sales copy often doesn't tell what a particular air purifier does not do. This is also true the other way.
And finally, we scurry all over the web to find complaints and compliments from customers who have previously bought the products. That way, you don't have to visit a bunch of websites and read tens or hundreds of customer-generated reviews. We provide the gist of those reviews for you.
About This Air Purifier Review Listing
If you know with the phrase "Birds of the same feather flock together," you will realize that it also applies to air purifiers. With reviews of air purifiers, you will know which brands you should trust and which one is questionable. In the alphabetical listing for air purifier reviews below, we also mention what class a particular air purifier belong to so that you don't have to go through every single review to find the one which fits your needs.
In air purifier world, there are basically four classes of air purifier.
The first or top tier is occupied by air purifiers which are proven to alleviate moderate to severe problems, for instance severe allergies, asthma, multiple chemical sensitivities, large tobacco smoke problem, pet odor, and so forth. They usually have more power and clean bigger rooms. However, they are also more pricey; almost no air purifier in the premium class cost less than $400. These air purifiers are mostly made by companies dedicated in filtration or air purifier industry, for instance: IQAir, Blueair, and so forth.
Air purifiers in the second tier actually work well and customers often feel the good results. However, they are still not as efficient as the premium air purifier in retaining contaminants. In addition, these air purifiers also usually lack of conveniences. But at least, they work well, are safe and cost less than the premium ones. This rank is usually occupied by air purifiers put out by home appliance's manufacturers both from Asia and the West.
The third tier comprises of air purifiers which function just as an air cleaner. Its efficiency is usually around or less than 60% which means that it only cleans up less than 60% of the air coming in into the machine. The only good thing about it is that it's usually priced low, with some even below $100. We find that some products from famous home appliance's manufacturers are in this category.
Finally, there is the bottom or fourth tier which consist of dangerous lemons. Not only are these air purifiers are useless; they are also harmful because some emit ozone. Some of these home air purifiers are put out by companies which pay attention more on slick marketing than on engineering. It's therefore not surprising that although quiet expensive, these air purifiers are usually popular and generate sales through a Multi Level Marketing (MLM) scheme, paid television programming or mini sales sites. Some ionic purifiers and all ozone air purifier sold for residential market are in this category.
